Tennessee State University Students

There has been a recent report that directly affects many students of Tennessee State University. Tennessean.com has recently reported that the private financial information of over 9,000 Tennessee State University students has been “missing” since early September. A financial aid counselor at the university, downloaded the information onto a portable computer storage device and this device has been reported as missing.

A university authority has advised that all who were included on that device will be contacted by phone or by email of the situation. Officials have not found any evidence of the data being used and credit protection is being offered to those involved.

One student’s reaction to the situation: “For me personally you know it makes me worry,” said graduate student Doniethia Williams, 24. “If you can’t keep up with this small amount of information, how are you able to run a school? That’s totally ridiculous.”

The incident of identity theft is growing at an alarming rate. Many are not taking action to protect their private information carefully. And for those who do carefully protect their private information, it might only take a case like this one, where another party is the reason it was exposed.  Try Lifelock for using promotion code Defense.
