LifeLock

Lifelock has had a new and exciting development. With almost 1.5 million members they are truly a leader in identity theft protection. The company also offers their identity theft protection to children, which makes up over 10% of their subscriber base. Expect to see a lot more about them in the media as more marketing evolves in the year 2009, especially now that they have partnered with TransUnion.

“Protecting consumers just became easier,” said LifeLock CEO Todd Davis. “While we have been growing our company by providing a strong layer of defense against identity theft, we have been looking to develop a business solution with the credit bureaus that takes advantage of leading technology and provides our members with a process unchallenged in our industry.”

This agreement made with TransUnion will help improve the process that is now in place for fraud alerts and opt outs. This will serve to enhance the protection services that current customers now receive.

“We believe in empowering consumers through education and choice,” said Mark Marinko, TransUnion president of Consumer Services, “This effort will help ensure that regardless of whether consumers choose to manage their own credit directly through the services TransUnion provides or authorize LifeLock to handle those kinds of responsibilities on their behalf, their requests and personal information will be handled in a highly efficient and secure manner.”

Is this the only company that does that? What about other id theft companies? I am asking because I am in the middle of deciding which one to use. I’ll look around. Thanks

There are other companies that have identity theft protection, but we have found none as thorough. They have the best protection that we have found, by far. Therefore, we dedicated this blog to them.

LifeLock has recently had to change from putting fraud alerts out to doing credit monitoring. Although I think that the monitoring is even better, it isn’t fair that as a consumer we can’t choose to pay someone to do this for us. That should be our choice. I’ll now need to call and do this myself.
