It’s Holiday Time – Be Very Careful
We need to make our readers aware that this time of year is the most dangerous when it comes to becoming a victim of identity theft. It only takes seconds to be victimized by these criminals, who are now out in large numbers, looking for several victims to take advantage of.
When out shopping, keep your purse/wallet secure at all times. Purses are easily snatched out of buggies, out of baby strollers, off of counters, etc. Wallets are targeted by pick pockets. Gifts kept in sight in parked cars are easily stolen. Please be aware that all shoppers are targets and it only takes being caught off guard to become a victim of a purse snatcher or pick pocket.
Also, be careful if your workplace is one where valuables are not kept secure. Those who work in retail stores and only keep their valuables at their station, could become a victim.
“There are things you can do to reduce your risk and put a line of defense in place,” said Mike Prusinski, LifeLock vice president of public affairs. He suggested that people: watch their credit; buy a shredder and reduce junk mail. “Criminals understand you’re going to get more mail offers trying to get your business,” Prusinski said. “Buy a shredder and use it.” Also, removing your name from the consumer reporting agency lists can reduce your junk mail tremendously, possibly preventing you from becoming a victim.

I think that would be horrible if someone stole your identity and then ruined your credit so that you could provide for your family. Around Christmas I don’t think my daughter would understand not having presents under the tree because daddy can’t pay for them.
Sad thought.
