IFMG Credit Applicants
Have you ever put in an application for credit with a company online? Maybe you were applying for a credit card, auto loan or mortgage. Be ware of the following announcement made in August 2008:
A recent announcement has revealed that over 92,000 people who applied for credit with IFMG have had their identities potentially exposed by illegal computer hacking. The information accessed included names, addresses, birth dates and social security numbers. The parent company, Dominion Enterprises, will be mailing letters to those who they can determine were affected. These individuals will need to take precaution and do what they can to protect themselves from identity theft. They are also offering free credit monitoring services for up to one year. The authorities have been made aware of this act and will work on finding those responsible.
If you have been affected by this breach, please keep in mind that you can enroll in identity theft protection services today to help protect you from identity theft. This service includes many benefits and will be around long after the free monitoring ends. Also keep in mind that if they can’t determine that you were affected, you might not ever receive a letter and be offered the monitoring service. In addition to monitoring, LifeLock offers many more services, for a minimal fee. Use Defense to get a special discount.
