Lifelock.com

This website is a must when doing research on which identity theft protection service you want to buy for yourself and your family. One reason why looking at Lifelock.com is so important is because not many services out there will offer help with protection for children. Many parents may think that identity theft protection services for children are not necessary, and yet there are children all over the nation having their identities stolen every day. While it is true that many child identities are stolen by people they know, there are also many who are not stolen by people they know. The website features a testimonial from a young man who was an identity theft victim for years before he realized it. His identity was stolen when he was 7 and he didn’t find out until he was 17! You can do a little more research into his story on the internet.

Many of you do not have families to be concerned with protecting, you just need protection for yourself. Visit the website for services that will protect you when someone tries to use your name and social security number to apply for credit or open a new account.  Other services include reducing the amount of pre-approved credit card offers you receive and reducing junk mail, which we can all do without.

There are also video clips titled “LifeLock In The News” that will explain more about what LifeLock does and how it can help you. Featured videos are shown from CNN, MSNBC, Montel Williams and various news stations from local markets.

Another Reason You Should Buy LifeLock

Why buy LifeLock? Aren’t I protected if I just keep my personal information in a safe place and don’t shop online? Does LifeLock have any value? LifeLock is a good solution for those who feel that they are at risk of identity theft.

Here is a recent news story from the New Hampshire UnionLeader.com: Thousands in New Hampshire and Massachusetts probably felt that they were safe, until they were notified that some personal data that was backed up on a media device was stolen over the summer. A Ford/Toyota dealership had customer financial data stolen which contained names, addresses and social security numbers. The information was stolen and reported back in August.

Police have reported that they have not found any evidence that the information has been used as a means of stealing anyone’s identity, however, the dealership does strongly recommend that those who are affected get a fraud alert placed on their credit file.

The exact number of customers affected is not yet known, however, it does number into the thousands.

LifeLock Warning To Consumers

This holiday season, consumers need to shop being especially aware that it is a time of year when identity thieves are the most active. Scams and frauds online and in stores will be lurking for unsuspecting victims.

First, there is Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving when everyone wants to go out and find those great deals before Christmas arrives. Unfortunately, it is also the perfect time for an identity thief to target their victims, who are oblivious to the fact that they are being targeted. The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) reported last year that consumers lost more than $1.2 billion to identity theft.

What Is “Clickjacking”?

What in the world is “clickjacking”? We have all heard the terms “hijacking” and “carjacking” and neither are crimes we want to ever be found a victim of. It is the same with “clickjacking” and it is a growing trend.

ComputerWorld.com has posted an informative article on “clickjacking”. Here are the details, according to Jeremiah Grossman, Chief Technology Officer at WhiteHat Security Inc:

“Think of any button on any Web site that you can get to appear between the browser walls. Wire transfers on banks, Digg buttons, CPC advertising banners, Netflix queue…. The list is virtually endless, and these are relatively harmless examples. Next, consider that an attack can invisibly hover these buttons below the users’ mouse, so that when they click on something they visually see, they actually are clicking on something the attacker wants them to.”
