LifeLock Agreement Provides Guidance For ID Theft Protection Industry

On March 9, 2010, LifeLock came to an agreement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and several State Attorneys General in regard to a compliance issue regarding advertising which establishes regulations for advertising for the identity theft protection industry.

The latest press release by the company quotes Chairman & CEO, Todd Davis as follows: “LifeLock is pleased with this agreement, which, for the very first time, works to set advertising guidelines for the entire industry. We welcome federal and state efforts to regulate our industry, because doing so helps to protect consumers from the risks of identity theft.” One of the most important goals of the company is alerting and educating consumers of the risks of identity theft, and more Americans are aware of these risks thanks to their efforts.

LifeLock members are still very satisfied with the services provided by the company and have no reason to be alarmed by this agreement. LifeLock reports that more than 75% of those who enrolled within the first 18 months of the company’s start up, are still members and 90% of customers renewed their subscriptions last year, showing a high satisfaction and retention rate.
