Ways To Prevent Identity Theft
Many commenters on our blog have noted that fact that there are many ways to prevent identity theft on your own and that is true, to a degree. You can take the time to contact the different credit bureaus and place fraud alerts on your credit file yourself. You can remove your own name from junk lists and pre-approved credit card offers yourself. You can be sure to mail your bill payment checks directly at the post office, rather than placing them in your accessible residential mailbox. You can be sure to carry only the credit / debit card you need to reduce the risk of someone getting a hold of all of your credit card numbers. You can be sure to shred any and every document that contains personal information that can lead to the theft of your identity. You can get a copy of your credit report regularly to look for any fraudulent activity. You can scour the internet regularly to see if your personal information is being sold or traded. The list goes on and on. Be sure to view (more…)

If something seems too good to be true, you can almost guarantee it is, and now is not the time when you want to sit around waiting or believing that nothing will happen to you.”
